CBCA Book of the Year 2017 Notables announced

The Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) today announced the list of Notable Books (also known as the Long List) for the 2017 CBCA Book of the Year Awards.

This year the judges noted the high quality of entries, with the highest number coming from the Younger Readers and Picture Book categories. They also noted that the theme of war had declined from previous years, and in the Early Childhood category, the emphasis was on animals and emotions.

'The creativity of our authors and illustrators continues to surprise and delight,’ said CBCA National Chair Professor Margot Hillel OAM. ‘Every year we are thrilled to see stories reflecting issues of relevance and importance that are sure to engage young Australian readers.'
